Museum Erotica was founded in 1992 by Ole Ege and Kim Riisfeldt-Clausen. In 1994 the museum moved from downtown to the present location in one of the most beautiful buildings in the center of Copenhagen. In the sealing of the first exhibition room is a beautiful painting from 1880 by Otto Schondel, called "Tribute to Life", very appropriate for an erotic museum. The history of eroticism is fascinating. It mirrors our deepest and most unconscious feelings. In the museeum we have illustrated different parts of the sexlife of Homo Sapiens, from pre-antiquity to modern times in a charming mix of art, kitch, sculptures, artifacts, photos, film, sextoys and other curious objects. The human race have at all times performed a huge variety of sexual pleasures, and as we see it, there is no perversions, exept that of forcing others to engage in something against their will. From our hearts we welcome you with a quote from Lennon and McCartney: "All you need is Love" |
